The 2016 Bucket List

7:00 AM

If you know anything about me, it's probably not hard to believe that I suck at resolutions.

So, in the interest of not frustrating myself, I'm not going to even try to do resolutions. I'm going to put together a bucket-list type thingy for this year instead. I don't know how many of these will happen either, but hey, a girl can hope. So, here are some of the things I want to do in this glorious 2016:

Get to 100 followers because that would be awesome

Not have to rewrite Pariah again. this would be a miracle.

Go to a writer's conference. I must meet some of my fellow species this year.

Re-watch LOST. All of it. I like torturing myself, obviously.

Read 250 books. I think I can do the thing...

Start editing Havard. Because this thing is close to my heart and it's ready for fixing-up.

Get out of the house more. for an extrovert, I spend a lot of time moping around inside...

Be happier. I hope.

Overcome some anxieties that get in my way. *hides*

Complete a whole Wreck This Journal. I got one for Christmas and I'm not artsy at all but I have a plan so we'll see how this goes.

Follow more blogs. I'm too lazy to look most of the time.

Take more pictures? Again, I'm not an artsy person. But oh well.

Chill out. I'm an uptight little snowflake most of the time.

Blog more regularly. I've figured out what I want to blog about now, so things might be slightly different around here this year. But trust me, it'll be awesome.

Grow in my faith because, well, duh. I'm getting there more and more every day.

What are some of your goals for 2016?

  1. Wow! Good luck with reading 250 books this year! My goal is 100 books, as it has been for the past three years. I've failed two times, but hopefully this will be my year. Also yes to being happy and overcoming anxieties and chillaxing. One of my goals this year, the absolutely nonnegotiable one, is to do one fun and relaxing activity every week. Because that didn't happen this year. I was always feeling guilty about doing fun things and just working working working which made my stress levels rocket, which is unhealthy and tiring. Growing in your faith is a great goal as well. I want to read the Bible from front to back this year since I've never actually read the whole Bible.

I also want to go to a writer's conference. I kind of want to go to Realm Makers since it looks like so much fun. The problem is that I'm more interested in historical fiction than sci-fi or fantasy. *le sigh* I'm sure I would benefit from the conference, but it might be awkward to talk to other people and say that I'm working on a historical fiction novel.

    1. Ooh, that sounds like a really good idea. I tend to stress about relaxing too and that's a habit I need to kick. *sigh* Anyway, I hope your year is a great one, and less stressful!

  2. Some of my resolutions are edit my book (that has been in the works for three years). Start exercising (even though it is horrid). And slow down (taking more walks, not doing everything as fast). I just found your blog and it's really awesome!

    1. Ughhh editing and exercising and slowing down are the worst and hardest things and I should probably be doing them too. I just...don't want to. :P I'm so glad you like it!

  3. Eeep I'm so excited about you finishing Pariah (because I want to drown myself in fears again) and I'm also super duper excited about you editing Harvard BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO READ THIS NOVEL THAT EMILY AND KRISSY CAN'T STOP GOING ON AND ON ABOUT. *bounces up and down*

Getting out of the house more is something I need to do more often. Cause (also for an extrovert) I spend most of my time inside and forgot how awesome it is to talk with people. xD

Looooooosstttt. I'm in a very feelsy part of season three right now and I'm scared because Desmond is predicting that someone is going to die AND THAT SOMEONE CAN'T DIE.

  4. Dude, your blog is rad. Also re-watching LOST sounds epic. It's been too long since I watched that series....it gives me chills. In 2016 I want to run a half marathon. And finish my novel. And learn how to paint my nails without smudging, because that's a near impossibility for me ^_^

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you're reading it <3

LOST is the most feelsy thing of all the things. Ugh.

  6. *nods* Great goals all. I'm looking forward to reading all the stuff you post this year. :)

I didn't really make any New Year's resolutions, but I guess I have goals, so there's that. I plan to drink more coffee (top priority there), buy/read more books, write more, read and comment on blogs more consistently, stuff like that. So I guess those would count as resolutions.

    1. Coffee is the ultimate goal, of course.

  7. these goals are lovely! I hope you achieve them easily and have fun doing them at the same time. :) can't wait to see what 2016 holds for you (and just so you know, I am just as eager to read that novel of yours as you are to read mine...which someday you will...once I get my act together in 2016...)

  8. These are awesome goals! I SALUTE YOU DOING SO MUCH! :D I secretly want to read 300 books again? But, gah, I need to just chill and admit I can't keep up with blogging AND reading AND writing all. the. things right now. xD So I'm going to focus on writing this year. (With like a huge side dish of books and blogging, hehhh.) A writers conference sounds super awesome. And I'm like 99% sure I am following you? But I'll check after this to make sure I am BECAUSE YOUR BLOG IS AWESOME and I forget to visit and gah, I'm missing out. *nods sagely*
Also bucket lists are awesome. ;)

  9. Fabulous resolutions! I spend way to much time procrastinating on my laptop in my cave, so getting out and doing stuff is one of my resolutions too. Happy New Year!

  10. Ooh, I look forward to the more blogging thing! Also, doing a whole Wreck This Journal would be awesome because they look fun, but I am not committed to those things and I can only wish that I were that cool. Maybe you can share your progress on that with us? Anyway, look forward to To The Barricade this year. Happy reading and writing and living!

    1. I feel kind of the same, honestly -- I'm not artsy, at all, so I'm taking sort of a different approach to it. xD And I'll definitely find some way to show you guys, because I'm annoying like that.

  11. I need to be healthier (yeah yeah, I know everyone says that but I'm a potato.). Not necessarily lose weight, just eat better and work out more. I also want to grow more in my faith, learn to schedule things without having nervous breakdowns, and stop procrastinating on life. My goal is to read 100 books.

    1. Sameee. I've been trying to be healthier slowly and I'm sort of okay at it? But at the same time I would rather marathon Castle and chill out and eat chips. xD

  12. I love your goals! Good luck reading 250 books. I'm absolutely certain you can do that. For me, one of my biggest goals this year is to make sure my time is spent what I want to do with my life rather than what people want me to do. Especially in 2015, I spent so much time just trying to do what everyone else wanted that my own projects like writing, or blogging, got pushed to one side. This year, I want to reclaim my time and do the things I love without worrying about what other people think I should be doing.

    1. I'm kind of scared of reading that many books, but oh well. We'll see how it goes. *nods*

I hope 2016 is a great year for you! That's an awesome goal, and one I could work on as well.

  13. Good luck with all your goaaals! I'm not a resolution person either. Goals are definitely more my thing... even if I don't meet them half the time. xD
My goals for this year (2016... I still can't believe that, it's so crazy. And to think that next comes 2017...) are pretty basic. Mostly, I want to:
-do a lot more praying and Bible-reading.
-read a lot more books (and my library just got another whole YA shelf so SCORE!). I haven't actually set a number goal or anything, but I am thinking about it...
-draw more. Even though I don't desire to make it my career or anything, I do enjoy it, and this past year I've been really pleased with my progress, so that's fun.
-write more. I would loooove to FINALLY finish the first draft of my fantasy, Children of Matorelli. It's my baby. <3 I also want to work more on my NaNo novel from last year.

Good luck with your goals. WE CAN DO THIS! -high fives-

  14. These are some great goals too! I too would like to get 100 followers. XD Graduating to a three digit following count would be pretty rad. That's a lot of books! I'm a slow reader so I'm only vying for 35. XD Best wishes for your goals!
